English Language Arts

In K – 2 we use the Amplify CKLA Curriculum

Built on the Science of Reading, Amplify Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA) sequences deep content knowledge with research-based foundational skills. It is a literacy curriculum that inspires curiosity and drives results, empowering all students with rich background knowledge. CKLA combines rich, diverse content knowledge in history, science, literature, and the arts with systematic research-based foundational skills instruction. The intentional approach to background knowledge invites students to dig deeper and make connections across content areas. Amplify CKLA enables students to build a robust knowledge base for accessing and unpacking complex texts so real comprehension can happen.

In 3 – 8 we use the EL Education Curriculum

The EL Education K-8 Language Arts curriculum is a comprehensive, standards-based literacy program that engages teachers and students through compelling, real-world content. Created by teachers for teachers, our highly-acclaimed curriculum draws on EL Education’s 25 years of experience in engaging teachers and students in active and meaningful learning.

We promote a three-dimensional view of student achievement — mastery of knowledge and skills, character, and high-quality work — that offers a vision for education we would want for every child and provides the “north star” for all of our work.

Visit the EL Education Website for a more in-depth description and to learn more about the curriculum.

Math

In K-5 we use Bridges Math from The Math Learning Center

Bridges in Mathematics is a comprehensive PK–5 curriculum that equips teachers to fully implement the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics in a manner that is rigorous, coherent, engaging, and accessible to all learners.

The curriculum focuses on developing students’ deep understandings of mathematical concepts, proficiency with key skills, and ability to solve complex and novel problems. Bridges blends direct instruction, structured investigation, and open exploration. It taps into the intelligence and strengths of all students by presenting material that is as linguistically, visually, and kinesthetically rich as it is mathematically powerful.

In 6 – 8 we use Open Up Resources

Open Up Resources foster mathematical literacy for all students. Their signature mathematical language routines (MLRs) offer detailed guidance for developing students into mathematical thinkers. Facilitate and assess students’ ability to communicate mathematical thinking verbally, visually, and in writing.
