English Language Arts

In K – 2 we use the Amplify CKLA Curriculum

Built on the Science of Reading, Amplify Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA) sequences deep content knowledge with research-based foundational skills. It is a literacy curriculum that inspires curiosity and drives results, empowering all students with rich background knowledge. CKLA combines rich, diverse content knowledge in history, science, literature, and the arts with systematic research-based foundational skills instruction. The intentional approach to background knowledge invites students to dig deeper and make connections across content areas. Amplify CKLA enables students to build a robust knowledge base for accessing and unpacking complex texts so real comprehension can happen.

In 3 – 8 we use the EL Education Curriculum

The EL Education K-8 Language Arts curriculum is a comprehensive, standards-based literacy program that engages teachers and students through compelling, real-world content. Created by teachers for teachers, our highly-acclaimed curriculum draws on EL Education’s 25 years of experience in engaging teachers and students in active and meaningful learning.

We promote a three-dimensional view of student achievement — mastery of knowledge and skills, character, and high-quality work — that offers a vision for education we would want for every child and provides the “north star” for all of our work.

Visit the EL Education Website for a more in-depth description and to learn more about the curriculum.

Math

In K-5 we use Bridges Math from The Math Learning Center

Bridges in Mathematics is a comprehensive PK–5 curriculum that equips teachers to fully implement the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics in a manner that is rigorous, coherent, engaging, and accessible to all learners.

The curriculum focuses on developing students’ deep understandings of mathematical concepts, proficiency with key skills, and ability to solve complex and novel problems. Bridges blends direct instruction, structured investigation, and open exploration. It taps into the intelligence and strengths of all students by presenting material that is as linguistically, visually, and kinesthetically rich as it is mathematically powerful.

In 6 – 8 we use Open Up Resources

Open Up Resources foster mathematical literacy for all students. Their signature mathematical language routines (MLRs) offer detailed guidance for developing students into mathematical thinkers. Facilitate and assess students’ ability to communicate mathematical thinking verbally, visually, and in writing.

    October 7, 2024 - October 11, 2024 |

In 1989, Congress officially recognized the first full week of October as Foodservice Workers Week. During this weeklong celebration, we take the time to celebrate the dedicated professionals who are the key ingredient in delivering nutrition excellence to students!

    - Print the PIFSW Poster: A celebratory Pride in Foodservice Week mini poster is available to download here. Hang this in your kitchen, break room, or a spot where your staff, residents/patients, and other facility staff will see it!

    - Enjoy a Meal Together: Take a break from your busy day to have a meal together. Sit down, unwind, enjoy some food, and chat with one another about something nonwork related!

    - Spread Positivity: Ensure your staff knows that you recognize their hard work and dedication. Write notes to them throughout the week with kind sayings, such as “thank you,” “we appreciate you,” and “great job.”

    - Get Social: In addition to utilizing the toolkit, take photos or videos of your staff to recognize them throughout the week. Show your followers who your staff is and why they are proud foodservice workers. Remember to receive approval from each staff member before you post!

    - Give a Gift: If your budget permits, give your staff small gifts of appreciation. Gift cards, pens, and water bottles are all low-cost options!

    - Themed Days: Celebrate your week with different themes each day! Examples like wacky sock day, beach day, and flannel day are simple ways to bring your staff together as a team!

    - Use the PIFSW Facebook Frame: ANFP has created a Facebook frame that you and your staff can add to your profile pictures! A tutorial video is available on ANFPtv.
